Now that Valentine's Day is over, you're probably wondering what to do with those flowers...

There's a plethora of things you can do! But my favorite (and easiest) way is to preserve the flowers by press-drying them. It requires minimal amount of effort on your part and just a little bit of patience.

So let's go press some flowers!

Supplies:

  • A real flower

  • 2 pieces of cardboard

  • A very thick and big/heavy book

Step 1:

Take a piece of cardboard and lay it flat on the table. Put the flower on top of it.

Then, take the other piece of cardboard and lay it on top.

With your palm, push the cardboard closer to the bottom piece of cardboard, flattening the flower.

Step 2:

Take the really thick and heavy book and put the flower sandwiched between the cardboard into the back of the book.

Close the book, and be sure to apply pressure to flatten the flower some more. Put it away on a bookcase or somewhere safe. Be sure to not open the book while the flower is drying.

Keep it like this for about a month.

Step 3:

After about a month has passed, you can take your flower out. It should be dried and flattened by then.

See how flat it gets?

You can put it in a frame, or put it into a scrapbook. Regardless of what you decide to do, you now have a memento that you can cherish for a long time.

...So, I had a little too much fun taking and editing some pictures of one of the rose bulbs that I had gotten from my hubby for Valentine's Day.

I hope that you enjoy the mini-photoshoot I had. :-)

Keeping it Classy & Crafty,
