Valentine's Day is fast-approaching, and you probably fit into one of these two categories:
You want to get in touch with your creative side and create a card.
*OR*
You haven't had a chance to go to the store and buy your special
someone a card.
If you have answered YES to either statements above, then you're in luck! Today's DIY project is brought to you by the holiday of love. You can thank cupid for that (or me…whichever works for you).
So let's get this show on the road so you don't miss those dinner reservations!
Supplies:

- 2 red sheet of 8x11 cardstock paper
- 1 white sheets of 8x11 cardstock paper
- A pair of scissors or xacto knife (disclosure: be very careful when handling scissors or xacto knife and exercise proper care when using them to avoid injury)
- Double-sided tape
- Black marker or pen
- Pencil
- Ruler
Step 1:

Take a sheet of red paper, fold it in half, fold it in half again, and fold it in half once more. With your pencil, draw a half heart adjacent to the folded part of the paper. Take your scissors and cut along what you just drew. You should come up with four hearts. Pink put these to the side for now.
Step 2:
Take the red paper and fold it in half.
Put this to the side. We will get to it at the last step.
Step 3:

Take the sheet of white paper. We are going to draw the 3-D message on here, but backwards so that the pencil marks won't show.
Take your ruler and put it to the paper vertically. Make tick marks at 3.5 inches and 7.5 inches.
Take your ruler, the left end right up against the edge of the paper at the 3.5 mark. The paper should measure at 8 inches.
Make the following tick marks:

0.25 inches
1 inches
1.5 inches
2.25 inches
3 inches
3.75 inches
4.75 inches
5.5 inches
6.25 inches
8.25 inches
Next, take your ruler, the left end right up against the edge of the paper at the 7.5 mark. Make the following tick marks:

0.25 inches
2.25 inches
4 inches
4.5 inches
6.25 inches
8.25 inches

Along the 7.5 mark, measure out and line 2 inches above all of the tick marks.
Step 4:

Draw lines based on the picture above. It should read "U (heart) I" .
Step 5:

Insert holes with your scissors and cut along the lines EXCEPT the ones along the 3.5 inches line. We need those to fold.
Step 6:

Flip the paper to the other side. Fold the lines along the 3.5 inches line, the 7.5 inches line and the extra two inches that you added above the 7.5 inches line. The I Heart (love) U should be visible and in 3-D. M
Step 7:

Take the folded red paper. Make sure that the folded part of the paper is pointing upwards. Grab the marker or pen, and write along the top the following phrase:
There's only . . .
Take the three hearts that you cut out in Step 1 and tape them onto the middle of the card that below the message "There's only…"
Then write the following inside the three hearts:
1 way, 2 say 3 words
Along the bottom of the page, underneath the heart, write the following:
That expresses how I feel . . .
Step 8:

Tape the 3-D message to the inside of the red card.
Your card is now ready to give to your valentine!

Now, it may not be the most precisely cut or the most perfect thing in the world, but it came from your heart and required your time and effort.
What more can your valentine want?! Happy Valentine's Day, loves!
Keeping it Classy & Crafty,
-SS
